Asus ZenBook Pro 15 Review

Among the laptops, we see a lot of models equipped with new generation processors, which are accompanied by new designs, of course, but the lack of innovative different models is also remarkable. On the other hand, Asus introduced the new laptop at the Computex fair, which is exactly the kind of thing that will compensate for this lack. By replacing the touchpad area of the ZenBook Pro 15 with a digital display called the 5.5-inch ScreenPad, Asus is able to use this space more differently and functionally. We will talk about ScreenPad and its functions, but let's start with the design of the ZenBook Pro 15.

How to design the ZenBook Pro 15?

The ZenBook Pro 15 is made of monolithic aluminum. Deep Dive Blue and Rose Gold colors stand out in the bottom of the laptop with a gold ornament, which looks remarkably beautiful in this way. With its slim-bezel display and 18.9 mm thick body that maintains the same minimalist design, the laptop is one of the slimmest notebooks, weighing just 1.88 kilograms.

The ZenBook Pro 15 is also a model that offers a wide range of environmental connections. The laptop is equipped with full-size HDMI, 2 USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports, and 2 USB Type-C ports. Here we can also see a microSD card reader. Offering an Ethernet port with an external cable in the box, the laptop also features Bluetooth 5 and 802.11ac Wi-Fi support.

The screen of the ZenBook Pro 15 is 15.6 inches. The screen provides a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels, the laptop can also be found in a different model with 4K support. Especially for graphic designers, we think it will be preferred because it provides 100 percent Adobe RGB compatible. The screen of our model has a non-reflective LED panel and can also provide viewing angles up to 178 degrees.

The screen provides a good image. So you can have a good multimedia experience in the office, at home or on the mobile. Of course, if we add the technical staff of the laptop that we will talk about soon, we can include the games.

Keyboard surface and ScreenPad

The ZenBook Pro 15 is comfortable with its keyboard. It provides easy control with its low-profile keys, and offers good typing performance. It is especially nice that the row of keys arranged in a row on the right side of the keyboard allows you to navigate the text paragraphs comfortably. The keyboard's direction keys are a bit small, but the space around the keys is important for easy access.

You can access the ScreenPad with the function assigned to the F6 key here. More precisely, you can change the way ScreenPad is used. For your convenience, you can use the touchpad area as a second display or turn it into an auxiliary display where you can use the ScreenPad modes. Of course you can use it as a classic touchpad or completely disable it. Here you make this selection with the F6 key. How does ScreenPad work? Now let's take a closer look at it.

How does ScreenPad work?

In ZenBook Pro 15, the ScreenPad is basically a 5.5-inch LCD screen, and you can use it as an extended screen or as part of a variety of shortcuts. Of course, it is also a touchpad at both usage points. In the meantime, when we say access to various shortcuts, Apple's new MacBook'ların Touch Bar just like the "click-and-go" in the form of shortcut keys are not talking, this part of Apple's Touch Bar is a very interactive part of the nature. With ScreenPad you can run separate applications. In addition to applications like ScreenPad Office, ScreenPad Music Player, ScreenPad Calculator, ScreenPad Calendar, ScreenPad NumKey, you can also run applications like Spotify on this screen. We believe that Asus will bring more application support here and will further diversify its use in the future.

For instance, you can connect your account with Spotfiy and control the music flow, while working with Office application on Excel, Word and PowerPoint documents, you can make quick touches from this area with your fingertips. On the other hand, although the keyboard does not have a numeric keypad, you can activate it immediately with ScreenPad or use the calculator on the one hand. Again, with the online video player feature of ScreenPad, you can watch YouTube videos directly in this area, regardless of the home screen. You can understand that the use of the ScreenPad section is quite rich.

In the meantime, you can access the shortcut keys on the Launcher screen as you want, you have the chance to customize. We have assigned many applications here from Camera to Linkedin, from Outlook to Weather. So you can shape this area as you wish, including changing the background.

In addition to all this, Asus, as we have just said, does not only add this area as an additional feature, but also directly adds an extended display to your laptop. This 5.5-inch section gives you the support you want as a tiny panel, especially when you need an additional display while you're working.

ZenBook Pro 15 technical staff and performance

Yes, let's come to what ZenBook Pro 15 has to offer. The ZenBook Pro 15, which we have with the UX580GD, offers a different processor-based option, as we have just mentioned, at first. The model is powered by an Intel Core i7-8750H processor with 6 physical cores. The laptop also has another Core i9-8950HK processor.

Asus offers support for the Core i7-8750H with 16GB of DDR4 memory, which can reach up to 4.1 GHz at the ceiling, running at 2.2 GHz base clock speed, and an SSD of 512GB in disk space. On the graphics side, we found the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 in the laptop, and the GDDR5 has 4 GB of memory.
